Our Core Values

Guide everything we do and and shape our approach to supporting caregivers and their families

Equality

We champion inclusion, equity, and social justice, working to create equal opportunities for participation and access to care for neurodivergent individuals around the world.

Sustainability

We empower parents and professionals to cultivate the roots of care through skill development, confidence, and community ownership so they can sustain these blooms over time.

Integrity

We work hard to adhere to moral and ethical principles by promoting awareness of common challenges, and we expect that volunteers and learners adhere to our guidelines.

Our Story

From our first volunteer trips to global initiatives, these are the moments that define our mission.

2013 – Laying the Foundation
Sandra began volunteering with Medical Mission Ecuador (MME), providing occupational therapy for children and supporting their families. Over the years, she has continued her volunteer work, realizing that a single week of therapy each year wasn’t enough; families need ongoing support that lasts well beyond the medical team’s visits. This experience planted the seed for a larger mission.
2020 – Missions for Love Beyond Borders is Born
Building on years of hands-on experience, Sandra founded Missions for Love Beyond Borders (MFLBB). Rooted in coaching, community collaboration, and equity, MFLBB works to expand access to essential resources and empower caregivers of neurodivergent individuals, both locally and globally.
2025 – Official Nonprofit Incorporation & Global Impact
MFLBB reached a major milestone by officially incorporating as a nonprofit and charity organization. What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a global movement, making a meaningful difference in the lives of neurodivergent children and their caregivers. This milestone strengthens our ability to expand programs, deepen reach, and continue building lasting connections across borders—one act of love at a time.

Meet the Dedicated People Behind the Mission

Sandra Duarte, OTD, MS, OTR/L, BCTS Founder and Executive Director

FOUNDER

Dr. Duarte

Dr. Duarte is a licensed occupational therapist with over a decade of experience serving children and families across diverse communities in the U.S. and abroad. As a school-based practitioner and former clinical supervisor at an early intervention agency, Dr. Duarte developed a deep appreciation for the power of family-centered care and the importance of empowering caregivers as partners in a child’s development.

Through Missions for Love Beyond Borders, Dr. Duarte leverages technology to deliver virtual coaching, training, and resources to caregivers and professionals—regardless of location.

Her mission is simple: To build bridges of support and opportunity for families everywhere, so that every child has the chance to thrive, no matter where they live.
